The Lucky One

Justify your words with lies told through the years
Tell me it’s not your fault you hide from your fears
You say it’s just a fact of life that nothing can be done
But evil doesn’t flee from life with the rising of the sun
Truth in time you will tell
Morals risen by a bell
And at last you may confess
Or more likely you’ll revert to less
This fault I cannot claim
It is yours by more than name
So as you weep and as you cry
No sympathy will you ever pry
That is your problem, this is your plight
So you fade to the darkest night
Where the wolf cries outside his den
Abandoning you to the thoughts within
I know that I ought to care,
I ought to want you safely there
But after all is said and done
You will be the lonely one
You will be all melancholy
And contemplate your hearts past folly
Of days not all that long ago
Perpetuated by sun and lacking snow
Days when I knew who you were
Now I can only try to infer
So here I leave my closing remark,
see my heart is not yet tainted dark:
I wish that you have all the best
That you shall pass the coming test
And I know that you will at last receive
What you have worked so hard to achieve
My hands are clean no more to ask
Finished of this grueling task
And since it all is said and done
I sleep well…cause I’m the Lucky One.
