“Love yourself before you love others.
You can’t love a man
Until you love what’s in the mirror”
We were told this by our mothers.
Few took this and ran,
But the rest didn’t even consider
Fast forward, four years later.
Multiple heartbreaks have passed.
“What is wrong with me?”
I’m the common denominator.
My heart is smashed.
“Why can’t I see?”
Relying on oneself,
Learning who I truly am.
I begin to see a resemblance
Of how I want to see myself:
A winner, a grand slam.
Reviving my heart,
Love is given to everyone I meet,
The ones that deserve to be loved.
I got a fresh start.
No need to compete
For a love that is like a flood.
I love who I see in the mirror,
As well as those I meet,
For love is a necessity to self-growth.
