Love Wasn't Real

Held on

like a child

clinging to the string

that dangles from the bottom

of a ballon.

You huffed

and puffed,

like the Big Bad Wolf,

trying to blow away

my only happiness.

Took what you needed

from my dying soul ----

you knew I'd give you the world.

Suspicions arouse,

but still clinging,

believing that all

was pure ----

what'd I expect to happen?

Stray dogs get caught,

cheaters get what they deserve,

so thanks for telling me

the love wasn't real.
