i love and hate you

for you are both an enemy

and sometimes an ally

you manipulate my emotions

bringing them farther down

until happiness becomes very high to reach

you take advantage of my happiness

throwing it away as soon

as i show a slight hint of it

and you make it known that

happiness is poison,

for you are actually the poison

that resides in me,

slowly destroying me little by little

tearing into my flesh and injecting

it with venomous thoughts

 

but you can become an ally

when my heart is shattered

when i experience betrayal,

you let me know that good things don’t

last,

and you become the only thing

that is by my side at my lowest points

 

but you can become too possessive,

wanting to always get your claws on me,

not wanting to let me slip you away from my touch

you are my sadness,

my sorrow,

my depression,

you make it evident that you truly

never go away,

you’re just always hidden

and are ready to appear

when something goes wrong
