The love that’s been missing

Where did it go?

Does it still exist? Has it gone extinct?

“Love”

A lost meaning

With lost emotions

Door bell rings on the first date became an “I’m here“ text notification

Working towards telling someone their attractive turned into a swipe to the right on Tinder

Cheating became a trend

I miss you and I love you turned into a way to get in someone’s pants

Those three words became empty

Getting attached became scarier than your childhood nightmare

Are you Boyfriend and Girlfriend? responded into “we’re just talking”

The “love” we speak of today

I do not wish to speak that language

I want to speak true romance with a lover

I wish for you to

Be honest and kind to my bruised up heart

Secure me with your arms of safety that hold me close Shake my father's hand with your strong grip on our first date

Appreciate my love

Would you tell me how beautiful I am even when I have spaghetti sauce on my lip?

Give me your loyalty, feel proud to have me

When they chase you, don’t stop chasing me

Can’t blame them

When you’re driving up the street do you feel butterflies?Try not to get sick my love

Let’s grow like wildflowers

Wild is what I wish to feel even if it’s reckless

Give me love that captures me

But give me love that sets me free at the same time

Give me the love that’s been missing
