Looking Deeper

I know what the world expects of me,

And I’m pushed to make sure that’s what they see.

But I ask you to look farther.

I understand that this seems harder,

But there’s so much more to me—

I have a spirit that flies free,

I have a mind that questions all,

And a heart that’s scared to fall.

Look a little deeper, then you’ll know

I have so much more to show.

I have a stubborn habit

And a will that will never quit.

I have a wish to see what the world has to give,

And a desire to help another, each day that I live.

I have faith in my Lord above

And a hesitance to accept others love.

To you now I implore,

Look deeper than ever before

Within everyone that you meet,

And each day will come a little more complete.
