Look At Me

Location

Look at me and tell me what you see.

A young black educated male is what I hope you perceive me to be.

I have God beside me, my parents behind me and my family around me and I’m going to strive to be all that I can be.

When God is through with me, I’ll tell you what you’ll see.

A strong black educated man that walks proudly.

With my head held high and God’s word in my heart, I won’t be afraid to hold myself apart from those in the world who would try to keep me back or hold me down.

Because God is with me and he’ll never let me down.

I say these things very confidently, I will not be afraid of loving God and my family.

In society today, it is often said, that as a young black man, I won’t get ahead.

Drugs, robbing stealing, killing is what they say I will do.

But I know its up to me to choose.

To do what is right according to his word, is how I’ll live my life, and I won’t be deterred.

From reaching the goals for myself I have set and I will not stop until those goals have been met.

And I will always try to do my best and I will settle for nothing less than to achieve my full potential, but while doing this, I must keep my faith, for this is essential.

I will go out into the world to succeed because God will provide all my needs.

I ask you again to look at me, this time I’ll tell you what you see: a leader, not a follower the head not the tail, I am motivated, I am knowledgeable.

I am the son of a King, a child of God Just keep looking, one day you’ll see.
