The Long War

I fell at the first moment of battle

But I didn’t get up until the end,

As I scavenged for food I found a foe

But we quickly became friends,

We made our way down a road together

And realized war didn’t solve matters

We talked and laughed, forgetting the battle

And letting ourselves scatter

We were a mirror of one another

Like we fell and ‘died’ and escaped to hide

All this time obligated to abide,

Why’d we fought on different sides?

I don’t recall the conflicting matters

But all of us had fought so helplessly

It wasn’t until we found his friends,

And they hung me for being The enemy.
