Long Lost Gazes

I am the person you stare at

all heads turning to me

Long lost gazes

With eyes that penetrate my very soul that lacks the motivation to say something

During those few seconds of agony and embarrassment

Maybe I can't say anything

Chess strategies only go so far

And the message only gets lost within the very wind I silently cry for to break the silence

Stricken with the power of science and thick glasses

The term nerd will follow me throughout the rest of my days

I can run

And run

And run

Until I reach the long awaited ticking that drains out of the hourglass

filling my head with only the thought of wasted potential

disguised as the solid sand that thickens to cement

clogging my gears

blocking my pipes

locking away every last synapse that clings me to this earth

one foot at a time

leaving my distress signal in its grooved footprint.

The footprint that floats far and away

only asking to be unnoticed as the geek

but noticed as normal

and not the new freak from the town's circus

Caged and glared at through the eyes of the inconciderate

with absolutely no worries

and no resistance

as they feast their eyes on the weird

yet interesting creature

But I am far from the creature

You understand to see through those iron bars

The same iron bars that keep me different

From you

And keep me a step above

or an equation above

you

Chosen by God

Not to be looked down upon

Glared at

Laughed at

But chosen to rise

and demonstrate

What true srtrength is

and where it conceals itself

So go ahead

I encourage you to stare

Because true strength

is hard to hide
