Long Live the King!

Born into a world that is filled with pain sorrow

They always make you wish you didn’t have to face tomorrow.

A little boy who experienced nothing but hate,

Grew into a man that spoke words and caused you to meditate.

Life was like a narrow road covered in spikes,

All because of a want to be equal with whites.

There was no obstacle he could not overcome,

He was determined to get it, he wanted freedom.

Little did he know his work had made a big change.

I wish this man was here to know that things are no longer the same.

To him, things were not just black and white…they were gray.

And it ached his heart that his people weren’t given a chance- it gave him pain.

As difficult as things had seemed, he had a dream.

He had a dream for hope, salvation, and equality.

His voice rang throughout America, “From every mountainside, let freedom ring!”
