The Long Drive Home

Location

It was wrapped around a pole

And the car no longer whole

The vehicle was fire consumed

And the worst I assumed

Had occured on that night.

But I drove on, for

It was a long drive home.

The ambulance lights behind me

I could only just see

The body of the young girl

Whose bloody appearance made my stomach whirl

And I knew that when it came to her,

The drive up to Heaven

Was a long drive home.
