Lonely

Fri, 01/31/2020 - 16:45 -- kask20

I am watching,

waiting for the horror to end,

for them to believe in me.

I am screaming as the trees

arch over

to tear me out of their hearts.

I am homeless.

No one remembers me.

I am the one

who can do nothing

but offer myself to them.

I am hope.

I wrote this while my history class was learning about the Holocaust. I was inspired by the true bravery and sheer torture those taken to concentration camps endured, and I wanted to convey both the horror of the event and the inner conflicts within the hearts of the sufferers.
