Loneliness

Loneliness settles in

Like the fog on a dark night

Slowly creeping up to devour everything in its path

The light shines down in the morning

And the fog is pushed back,

But it’s always lurking there, just out of sight

Waiting for the light to disappear

Waiting for you to least expect it

Before it comes up and devours you again

A heavy weight settling on your chest

Thoughts you can’t escape, trapped in your head

Longing for human interaction, but even then you feel it

Not fitting in, not connecting

Even in a crowd of people, you feel alone

Alone
