Live in Laughter

Loosen up and lighten the load
set down your briefcase
and lose the smartphone
try barefoot awhile
and give the heels, Stacy Adams a rest.
Undo your stifling tie
and watch other constraints disappear-
become a small child immersed in play
and let your own imagination be your
whole world...
See the cat, wide-eyed
jumping about
chasing a dust mote
devote yourself with such intensity
to simple glee
or mimic a dog, overcome with joy- it's
body a- quiver, tail wagging, bounding,
unrestrained
revel in sheer fun and forget about
money and politics, production and deadlines,
appointments and routine
lay these aside,
if only for a day
-for they drag us down.
So run through a sprinkler,
skip down the sidewalk,
get silly
and live in laughter.
