Little Sister

Thank you

For loving sunlight.

For finding smiles and infectious laughter

In things in which I could only find darkness.

For not knowing how my day went

But cheering me up anyway.

Thank you

For believing in the color pink.

For showing me that vibrant energy is not cliche,

That blue is not the only real color.

For living in a small-minded world

But standing out anyway.

Thank you

For making me younger.

For putting bright eyes and softness

In place of icy blue and calloused skin.

For not knowing as much

But being brilliant anyway.

Thank you, little sister,

For being the best friend in the world

For reasons you could never understand.
