Little hands

Little hands start in the sky.

Little hands press against her mother’s belly.

Little hands hold her face as she cries.

Little hands write her name for the first time.

Little hands learn how to color inside the lines.

Little hands hold make arts and crafts.

Little hands open her little locker.

Little hands text her friends.

Little hands learn how to shoot a gun.

Little hands grip the wheel.
Little hands feel the warmth from his palms.

Little hands get a beautiful ring placed on their finger.

Little hands touch him for the first time.

Little hands feel another pair of little hands touching her.

Little hands hold smaller hands.

Little hands watch her baby's hands grow and learn.

Little hands teach her baby's hands what's right and wrong.

Little hands hold her mama's hands.

She feels them as they grow old.

Until eventually her little hands, feel her little hands, do the same.

And so it repeats.
