Little Did I Know

A place to ourselves as we cleaned off the shelves

My, how things pile over time

Our hearts were racing as our fears we were facing

The whole night, I ate maybe a dime

It was new and exciting, it was thunder and lightning

An ineffably beautiful storm

What I wanted to hear, you spoke loud and clear

My face grew rosy and warm

What I wanted to hear was also a lurking fear

The ground beneath us shook

For the walls I had built were starting to tilt

And I thought I was closing our book

Little did I know that when I said "No"

I'd begun a recurring trend

For today marks one year and I am still here

Tell me, when will this end?
