Light to a Rose

My life began in the nighttime,
Look into my eyes and you will surely find,
A look far away from sublime,
For thorns produced the beginning of this root,
But as the morning came,
With no sign of of rain,
The rose buds opened and with it life's truth.

My life continued through the day,
My eyes told love when reflecting the light rays,
But night still came the sun turned grey,
So the thorns told the rose to recede back in,
For without the sun's light,
You will die tonight,
The rose went back to live in thorns again.

My life was split from day to night,
My eyes were deceived although truth was in sight,
The sun watched as night captured life,
But the rose stopped blooming to kill the thorns and self,
For the rose would rather die,
Than spread thorns outside,
What a tragic life this rose had been dealt.

My life will end before sunrise,
Look into my eyes and find peace inside,
The sun is here it is time,
The rose opens for one last breath of air,
But inside is a bright shine,
A light so very fine,
The rose found the light was forever there.
