All that was around me was the darkness

I couldn’t see where I was going

There was no hope in front of me and I had no idea who I truly was

I wanted an escape from the darkness but I didn’t know where to go

I just wanted an escape

In my crying I would look anywhere for my escape

I picked up that worn book lying under a pile of dirty clothes on my bedroom floor

The first page my fingers opened to provided me with so much more than an escape

Tears poured down my face, but they were a new kind of tears

I had found my hope

It was a timid and hesitant step out of the darkness

But I had Someone to walk with me, Someone to protect me

Tears fell along the journey, but they were no longer tears of fear

There is now a meaning to my life

There is a desire, a passion

I have a calling, I goal

I have a reason to wake each day

And I only wish everyone could just have this meaning

That everyone would know they are loved, that there is this Someone who is jealous for them

Someone who can dry their tears and tell them how beautiful they are, even when the world doesn’t think they are

There’s a Someone who fiercely wants to be close to them, you desires a relationship with them

This Someone can give a new meaning to life

They can give you what no one else can give

They alone can love you relentlessly

It’s a path out of the darkness of life

It’s a candle in the piercing black

A hand to hold in the lonliness

So can I ask something?

Do you want love, trust?

Do you want hope??

All you have to do is step out of the dark and trust the light.
