Life's Little Pleasures

The distant smell of a fireplace on a cold night,

feeling that first rain drop of an impending storm,

being offered the last slice of pizza among friends,

getting cozy under a freshly-cleaned blanket,

effortlessly making a baby laugh,

getting to blow out a candle,

listening to the waves crash against the shoreline at the beach,

taking a bite of a favorite food,

popping an untouched sheet of bubble wrap,

turning to the last page of a really good book,

receiving a compliment by a stranger,

telling a strikingly funny joke and getting laughs out of it,

perfectly spreading butter along that morning piece of toast,

going to sleep knowing no alarm has to be set for the next day,

hearing that one song that perfectly describes the moment.

These are life's simple pleasures.
