Life without my family
It's 2 a.m., I have an exam.
My heart beats through my chest.
I'm in tears; can't get any rest.
I dial the number for Pam.
Mother's phone rings
someone answers, unfamilar.
I must have the wong number.
This usually brings comfort.
I had too much fun.
Now my money is gone.
I call grandpa for an extra dollar,
but once again things turn sour.
There's no one on the other line.
I'm all alone; I am not fine.
Where is my family?
They are always there to rescue me.
I do not think I can go on,
if all of them are truly gone.
