Life of a Girl

I can’t go outside in the dark on my phone

and I can’t go to a party without a chaperone.

On the streets, I have an escape plan

everytime I see a man.

If you don’t have the perfect body

you get shamed.

But if you show yourself

people assume you just can’t be contained.

I can’t open my mouth and say I was offended

cause so help me, I wouldn’t

want your reputation to be ended.

I can’t get dressed

without being stressed

that they will look at me the wrong way.

So I pray that this feeling will all go away.

It’s up to us to make this change

so we don’t have to feel so constrained.
