Death. Five letters, one syllable. It’s a simple word, yet its meaning seems to perplex many. How does one simply define death? We all know it happens; life ceases to exist due to death. Were all slowly dying, one day at a time. So why do we seem so surprised when we hear someone has passed? It was bound to happen?
Instead of mourning death, we need to embrace it. Death can be perceived as being just as precious as life. Death takes its toll on everyone, some sooner than others. We should be making the most of the life we live. Don’t be afraid to take chances and live for the outlandish obscurities that each and every one of us faces on a daily basis.
Life is a precious gift in which we are so quick to take for granted. Death is a state of mind where people mourn the deceased. Why do we celebrate birth and grieve death? They both occur, so why is one any different from the other? I believe the mystery behind it resides in the mindset that one simply can't prepare for it. It happens abruptly and unexpectedly. Instead of being sorrowful of the moments we will be missing out on, we should simply be thankful for the memories that were made. Life brings meaning to one’s life but death leaves its footprints on the heart. They are forever gone but never forgotten.
