Life after heartache

Writing all over the walls

A reminder that this room had life

spaces under the floorboards

big enough for people to hide

a Star of David carved into the bed frame

the floors are well worn

giving needed proof of life

history seeps out of these walls

the laughing forever rings

you here the calm humming of the windmills

and the lovely sound of animals outside

Proof that life lives inside these walls again

proof that after pain

and all tragedy

we can still love

we can still laugh

we can still live

after all of this heartache

even if it feels impossible

life after death is possible

even if it hurts now

one day we'll look back

and tell ourselves

How strong we have become

even if we shouldn’t of had to

and we lost a part of ourselves

that we can never can get back

We lost a part of our history

our family

and we could never be the same again

but it taught us how to rebuild

Weathers it is our cities or ourselves

We might forever carry this pain

forever through our hearts

we might never fully heal

but at least got to live

even if we hate ourselves for that
