Lies. Everywhere

I'm sorry.
I'm sorry I had the courage to stand up and say this is who I am
This is who I want to be
To let them be equivalent
I'm sorry I had the gall to
Not need a man to tell me who to be
I sorry I had the strength to try
I'm sorry that there's bitterness
That you don't understand me
Apologize for mistakenly thinking you did. For thinking you could see.
Sorry I can't forget.
That repression is incomplete.
But the mona lisa smile is the world.
As long as I look happy it doesn't matter does it?
I'm sorry for making that mistake. For caring.
Lies hold the world together.
But I can't lie to you.
So I'll apologize tonight and tell you to go to hell tomorrow.
Because truth is fleeting, situationally determined.
Too bright for our well trained souls to catch.
But a lie is always a lie
Lies.
Your fleeting manipulations.
Too quickly become dim.
Too cruelly stab in careless wounds.
Rip open the seams of a fragile thread.
Lies.
I love you.
You're the only girl for me.
I can change.
I wasn't judging.
Don't lie.
You were judging.
Everyone always is.
But in a world made of lies, somehow that's okay.
Lies. Everywhere. Lies.
Lies that make the world go round.
Lie, that honor falls to gravity.
But in the name of poetry...anther lie. Dressed up as metaphor. But a lie nevertheless.
