Letting Life Drip Away

Location

They all say it's not an option

But they never give us a better one.

We are forced inside ourselves, the shells of who we want to be.

Not a single slice goes undetected by them

Not a single tear escapes without them being to blame.

Yet they lie in their silk, warm and unharmed, for they make the rules

Yet  wonder and gasps flee their lips when we say our final goodbye

Putting up the old charade, buying flowers, apologizing with great pretense, bitterly stating they once cared for us.

But did nothing while we struggled to breath

Every second unlived is a second dead

And those who are lucky enough to live, only live for themselves... taking everything and giving nothing.

But why? What in the hell did we do wrong?

Were we not beautiful souls?

Were we not pure enough for your sanctimonious views?

Were we not worthy of compassion?

They all say it's NOT an option

Yet we are given no better choice than to let life drip out of our already dead bodies.

Because WE were given NO BETTER CHOICE.
