Letters to Generations Then and Now

Mon, 07/27/2015 - 17:33 -- writHER

Dear Past

You labored children

You will never see

And still had the

Courage to strive to be free

You took a stand

And stood so tall

For those you would

Never see at all

You had enough faith

To sacrifice for a dream

That could have easily never come true

and all I can say is

Thank you

Dear Present

To the black babies with little brown toes

Your smile brings joy defeating every woe

To the black girls with big dreams inside of you

Every desire you have shall come true

To the black women leading the way

Shine your light; today is the day

To the black elders whose wisdom inspires us all

Your legacy forever stands tall
