A Letter From That One Guy You Used To Hang With
Dear Friend,
That is no longer a friend,
I truly wish you well.
I agree it's hard
To walk past you
And to know we have grown apart.
We have our memories
That only make it worse;
We were well as friends.
But our lives have progressed,
We smile with new cohorts,
And our aspirations have changed.
How is your dog?
Or was it a cat that you had?
No - you're allergic to fur.
I'll forget a lot of you,
But never your laugh,
Or our laughs filling a room.
What ever happened?
I suppose our differences did;
Differences tend to get in the way.
I wanted it to be us,
You and I fixing this world,
But you wanted to do so with an army.
Does my name mean memory
Just as yours does to me?
I would honestly think so.
But for now I'll wait
Till your crowd dissatisfies;
I truly wish you well.
