Let Me Stare At You

I'm a poet,

I have the license to stare at anything, anyone,
and write what I see, anytime, anyhow

If I'm staring at you,
I'm not being rude,
I'm trying to decide if you need to go in a book.

If you're a silly sneaky snot,
I may be trying to decide how to kill you in the poem.

Nay, not wickedness in high places,
it's tale-bearing in sweet verses.

And if I shake my head at you,
just know you'll just be a Passerby,
in the verse, second place, after verse two

Or if I smile at you, dame,
just know you're an angel in my next poem.

everything is a story untold:
your smiles,
your snores,
your sighs,
your sneers,

so come float by, all of you,
let me stare at the sight of you
and write on your skin
the thoughts you'd ne'er spill

let me be your voice
when hurt snap your vocal chords,
so much you can't feel the.music
that accompanies thunder and lightning.

let me paint your thoughts
on the canvas of memories
until your past is become an art gallery
of many animated frames nostalgic

let me stare hard and long
into your eyes all day long
see right through your heart
and with your inner self be one.

let me stare at you
let me be you
