Let Me Fly

Like a caged bird, I pretend to be happy

I have to be the perfect daughter, friend, student and girl

Like a caged bird, I am left alone

No one seems to acknowledge the fact that I feel isolated from society

Like a caged bird, I sing

Despite everything, I have the pleasure of expressing myself through art

Like a caged bird, I am trapped

I am locked in a cage, my capabilities are limited by the iron bars of my parents’ protection

Like a caged bird, I long for freedom

How I long to spread my wings and fly

If I could fly away, would I ever be free?
