Let it Try

BEEP BEEP BEEP

Never more do most dread

the sound of the monstrous alarm clock

reminding us that school awaits.

But what most know not about me,

what most find crazy about me:

I love school.

School is my sport; my friends are my athletic team.

I practice and learn because it’s fun.

My finals are my championships

and while the fight is an uphill battle;

while questions taunt and tease me,

I manage to surpass their wrath and conquer

them once and for all.

I hold my trophy high,

another conquest finished,

the treasure: knowledge.

And now I relax and watch movies with friends.

Now I laugh and tell stories and make memories

to hang on to when the next battle comes:

when the next class tries to threaten and scare me

and bring down my grade.

Let it try.

Let it try.
