Legend

Pride crumbles away,
Replicating empires of old,
Settling into the Earth for centuries of slumber,
The dust reflects on how it came to be.

Childhood lies are spoon fed to children,
"You are always good enough"
"You can do anything you want to"
The tales seep into the brain, infecting rationality.

Talent is non existent,
For some reason, surprise comes with this fact,
The lies had too deeply penetrated,
Leaving my heart open for the assault.

Self esteem joins its friend pride,
They lie together watching centuries pass,
Both are forgotten and trampled upon,
Fading into legends of happiness.
