The Legacy of Reverend Dr Martin Luther King Jr.

Martin Luther King Jr. was a Baptist,
Who became a civil rights activist.
When elected president of a predominantly white class,
It became clear innovation was in his forecast.
Admitted to Morehouse College at age fifteen.
Diminishing discrimination was his scheme.
Became the official spokesman of the Montgomery Bus Boycott,
After thirteen months of protesting he hit the jackpot.
Bus segregation was ruled illegal by the Supreme Court.
African Americans were now free to use busses to transport.
He formed the Southern Christian Leadership Conference to fight segregation.
His actions affected the entire nation.
Didn’t believe in violence,
However he refused to be silenced.
On a speaking tour in Harlem, Martin was stabbed and nearly died.
He recovered from the damages and survived.
In 1960 King had his first arrest for a sit-in,
Due to the color of his skin.
Incarcerated twenty nine more times,
Even though he committed no crimes.
Because of Martin, segregation in interstate travel was banned in 1961,
With all these accomplishments he was still not done.
1963 the Birmingham agreement is declared.
Now public facilities will be shared.
Because of him equality was on the rise.
At age 35 he received a Nobel Peace Prize.
Martin Luther King Jr. was 39 when he was shot,
What he accomplished for African Americans will never be forgot.
Lived from 1929 to 1968,
Changing the world was his fate.
