Legacy

I have a secret
I rest behind my ear
I have a regret
I'll never let you hear

I have seen days alone
I have felt nights so cold
I have been known pain prone
I have tears at every heart fold

But I never broke down
I kept trying to reach
No I never left town
I went home to preach

I'll remember my pain
But look at the joy
Life is my gain
Not death could destroy

I've learned from my mistakes
I've walked the slow road
I've stumbled but gave what it takes
Wealth, I haul in my load

The wealth of grief and cheer
The wealth of failure and success
The wealth of knowledge and a road unclear
The wealth of love and nothing less

My legacy will not be eroded by sand and dust
My legacy will be remembered I trust
