Left in the Dirt

Have you heard,

Words Can Deaf!

Have you seen,

Words Can Blind!

Have You felt,

Words Can Kill!

Like a Noose

Words can slither around the necks of victims

Closing the airway and blocking life

Like a Flood

Words can wash over the mouths of victims

Clogging the mind and limiting sound

Like a Disease

Words can infest the bodies of victims

Rotting the flesh and destroying families

No one truly understands what words can bring

Like a game the tongues play on our sin

We continue to try our freedom

Only to realize that some words shouldn’t have been said

Oh, to see orange mixed with black

To feel the blood released from a body

To watch the flickering police lights, cascade on a sick game of CLUE!

What if words never hurt

What if words never killed

Would we still be here

Watching, Waiting, Wondering

In the last seconds before the scene closed

The villain locked away

The victim worshipped through tears

Would we finally realized the power of words

The mean texts online

The pushes and shoves by a celestial force

The gripping depression seized

Would that never occurred if words never killed

It’s too late now

The curtain closed

The battle lost

The Bedlam began

When the world ends

Will words still be present

Why is this the unforgiving truth

Now, as the body rests in its tomb

As we all stare at a movie repeated day after day

The blood seeps into the black slug

Another soul lost to the power of words

Another soul left in the dirt

To rot and gain mildew

To bloat and blue

the power words can bring can be helpful

The power words can kill

And we all will be just that

Left in the Dirt

DEAD!!!
