Leaving Therapy

How good it feels to be alive

to pull the bedclothes

over my grave

and put that part of me to rest

once and for all.

I can stroll down the streets

and see everything you see

but breath my own air and

think my own thoughts...

it's called independence.

It's called a new chance!

In the mornings

I step out of the shower and into the steam,

aglow with pink baby skin.

I'm still me, but I'm new.

Wrapped in the words of someone I never knew,

I am no longer a story

but my own character.

Here in this cemetery I'll honor

those who never let it go.

When it's my turn to go past

the point of no return,

I'll dance around the stones at dusk

and call it morning.
