The Leap

Come on, go.
Go. Don’t you know
this can’t really harm you- I'm here
and you’re perfectly fit

for things like this.
No time to reminisce
about the solid ground
you’ll leave, then hit.

Besides, in the seconds between
leaving and arriving, it seems
just like flying
and I’ll stop your fears with a kiss.

Come on, I’m going too.
Your eyes are too blue
to leave behind
and your heartbeats I’d be sure to miss.

Take my hand in your hand
together we’ll land-
I need your strong arms
around me tight.

Darling, take the leap.
It’s okay, we will sleep
when we crash, when we’re done
with our flight.
