The Last Prayer

I look around me, but all I see
Is the face of death staring back at me.
Hope and wonder still abide,
But they rarely linger by my side.

People hide and people flee,
though they will never reach safety.
The cloud of death is hanging o’er us
The doors are open right before us.

Help us in this time of need,
Bless us with your faithful seed.
Make us to be pure and white
Comfort us with your warming light.

Save us now from death, we pray
Save us from the black decay.
We love thee Father, hear our words
Free us from this darkening world.
