Last Call
It’s one in the morning
And all you want to do is leave
The world you were born in
When you’re you’re saying goodbye
Who do you call
Because you know they’d wonder why
So you don’t leave them with ‘what if”
They matter that much, at least
And you can’t answer questions when you’re a stiff
Maybe you’ll leave a message on the machine
It’s easier if you’re not face-to-face
When you’re coming clean
“It’s been years,” you say,
“Since anyone saw me
Or gave a damn about my day.”
When other girls went to homecoming and prom
You stared at a bottle of pills
And no one noticed until you were long gone
