Land of the free? Oh, what a joke

 

Free is being able to go out in the day, and not worry about getting harassed.

Free is about being able to feel safe in your neighborhood at night.

Free is having the ability to stand up for what you believe in without being labeled a “crazy feminist”

That is free

 

Free is knowing that you got the job because you were the best suited candidate.

Free is walking around without the need for mace.

Free is getting paid the average for that job, not the minimum.

That is free

 

Free is paying for your own drink, just like everybody else.

Free is treated the same in the event of a mistake.

Free is discussing important issues with someone that will not demean you.

That is free.

 

Free is marrying for love, no matter what type of love

Free is going to school without being bullied.

Free is feeling joy instead of fear.

That is free

 

Free is shopping without fear of being under constant surveillance, if only for the color of your skin.

Free is having no fear of police targeting you.

Free is carrying no shame in who you are.

That is free

 

Free is practicing your religion without discrimination.

Free is wearing whatever you want without fear of judgement.

Free is living how you want to

That is free

 

We are tired of this "free" opression 

So, America, are you really the land of the free?

Or are you just the land of the free for those that are like me?
