Today education is no longer an education, but instead a preparation for what is considered a proper roll in society.

And who ever decided what was to be proper or not proper?

Today an A on a paper means A scientist, or A doctor, or A CEO and anything lower is considered “average” and average just won’t cut it.

Today’s education system has forgotten that there are two sides of the brain, not just one.

We are given standardized tests to calculate if we meet the standard, when really we should be tested on how standard we aren’t.

Because as much as the world wants us to be their idea of functional in a stable economy I would rather be the anomaly.

Dreams are crushed under piles of math books and tons of homework as kids set down their paintbrush to pick up a calculator, because if they don’t, they won’t get that A, and no A means no successful, high income future.

A materialized society has turned high school into an institution for perfection worried about statistics and rankings rather than the development of it’s own students.

We are taught to embrace individuality yet when we don’t meet expectations that seems to be forgotten because we are lowering the average.

Imagination and exuberance instead of being embraced are medicated because there obviously has to be something wrong with a child that gets distracted after sitting in a desk for eight hours.

The majority of our childhood is spent in desks being taught what everyone else wants us to know when really I think it’s the schools that have some learning to do.
