It's like when I was 7

I used to follow footsteps in the snow

until they mysteriously disappeared

and just like then, I wonder

where have you gone?

My dentist asked me

with her hands in my mouth

if I knew you

"What a shame," she said

I remember the time you followed us on your bike

taunting and teasing

My best friend put gum on your seat while you weren't looking

and you promised your mother would call the cops

i was so scared

I didn't come to the funeral

but every time I pass your house I think about going inside

and telling your mother I'm sorry

even long after they moved
