Knee-Deep

In my eighth grade head,

I dreamt of the next year,

All the new friends I would make,

And the old ones I’d hold dear.

I started school with thrill,

Breezed through classes problem free,

When one day playing volleyball,

I twist and tear my knee.

After crutching out of Kaiser,

I began to feel real glum,

As I wouldn’t get to walk,

For the next four months to come.

But after that fiasco,

My frustrations slipped away,

I had met many new people,

And I also got all A’s.

As it’s coming to a close,

I look back on my past time,

Here in high school as a Freshman,

Rings my "adulthood" chime.
