The King's Legend
Location
Most kings we know rule their kingdoms sitting down
Enclosed with luxury and riches all around
This new King was unlike any other
He stood proud, tall, and walked with his people
When the world was against him, he was firm
While he was getting yelled at for speaking peace
He held his head high, he kneeled on his knees
His people constantly ridiculed
"Coloreds in the back!" the bus drivers shouted
"Whites only!" servers yelled
"You’re not welcome here!" citizens ranted
He watched his people suffer
He wondered could things possibly be rougher
Using whips, guns and police batons
To move them along
This King stood strong
Speaking of peace and love
With children hand in hand
He continued preaching
He had a dream
He wished for freedom
Free at last, free at last
When violence arose
He knew things would soon be better
Others only supposed
And when nothing but hatred was thrown to him
He stood there smiling
Spreading love and peace
After years of perseverance
His dream came true
Equality in the red, white and blue
Although the King has come and gone
His legend will live on
