That Kid

Thu, 02/06/2020 - 03:42 -- halimat

No light, no food, no shoes

But that kid smiles,

It's hot, no money, can't afford school

But that kid smiles,

On the street, I can count the bones on his body

But that kid smiles.

As he runs to play, as he looks at me, he smiles.

Kid, I will work hard, I will go to school

I will toil till I can come back home for you

And if I have to wake up at 5am to be my best

So I can come home to the motherland and help the rest

Know that when I remember your smile, it's all that matters

You are my motivation

and when the clock strikes 12,

I'm closer to my destination.

For you, for them, for us

Please never stop smiling.
