Kayleen

I was so sheltered.
You slowly,
Patiently,
Showed me how to survive high school.

Make-up and fashion,

Once a dark labyrinth of

Confusing products and social rules,
Became as clear as sunshine

When you taught me
How to present the image I want.

The dating game was an intricate web
That you patiently untangled,

Until I could see the beautiful network

Of love and interdependent relationships.

You helped me embrace my inner geek,
Because I knew nothing other than studying.

You shared with me fantastic books,

And I shared with you study tips.

We planned party after party;
Sleep-overs,

Beach trips,

Study sessions,
Movie parties,
Even our Sweet Sixteen we held together.
Every time we are together,
I can always count on having a friend,
Even when life throws us curve balls.

I am the girl I am today because of you.
I am so happy to not only to have
A study partner,
But also
A partner in crime.
