Just a Teen

New school,

butterflies,

bright-eyed,

i'm just a teen.

SAT prep,

long nights,

car drives,

i'm just a teen.

third year,

FAILED TESTS,

first kiss,

i'm just a teen.

college apps,

break-ups,

grad hat,

i'm just a teen.

first-year,

four year,

new place,

i'm just a teen.

weary eyed,

empty wallet,

beginning friendships,

i'm just a teen.

I've ran out screaming in the streets,

Desperately tearing every bit of memory

You haunt.

i'm just a teen.

You're still here with your iron grip

Clasped around my throat,

But I have the key.

i was just a teen,

But now I'm more.
