July 8th

Location

77449

A lonesome summer,
Accompanied only by the false sense
Of wholeness.
She painted herself:
Revolting,
Corpulent,
Disgusting.
She ignored reality:
Beautiful,
Necessary,
Notable.
The paranoia made a home
In her mind.

Reassurance was met with
Rebuttals and refusals.
A quickened pace marked
The origin of dread.
As an ice cube,
All I could do was float
On the aggressive tides of panic.
“Ring, ring?”
A greeting from a shortened life span.
A whirlpool surfaced.
“Ring, ring?”
The same fate.
Desperation was the state.
“Ring, ring?”
Relief melted the ice berg,
Allowing me to wade
In a lukewarm lake.

A new perspective.
Depression is a force
That gnaws at the mind.
Unity –
Emotional tax paid in full
For another’s safety.
