Judgment Day

Location

We break our backs for education
Contemplation
Deliberation
Can As and Bs judge character?
Can Cs and Ds judge worth?
All the while we sit in desks, plastic and metal
Forgetting who we are and our integrity
For a pat on the back, that 4.0
"Good Job" stickers

There's no need for words, it's written on our faces.
They push us past the breaking point.
They call stress a myth, "It's all about time management."
But we want that degree, we ache for that acceptance letter.

There is more to me than math and science.
There is more to you than tests and grades.
Judge me on my character, throw GPA away.

I may not be the smartest, or the most efficient
But I am kind and I am hard working.
Judge me by how much heart I put into my work, into my life

Let me break my back for dreams.
Let me break my back for freedom.
Deny those with no aspiration beyond the pages of required text.
Judge me by how much life I have lived.
Judge me by my passion to change the world.

Judge me by my heart.
