The Jarring, Dream-Like Symphony
Drum on the walls, chant your chants,
sob in your sleep on these long nights
Stay young, Oh Warmen
Pack your survival kit with a rat-a-tat-tat
and a happy tune on this gloomy afternoon
The pots and pans in the mess hall go
bang-bang, crash-crash
while the plates go clink-clink
Move out, away from the base, toward the field
Your friends are fatigued
But they can't drag their feet
Can't make that husha-hush sound like
the coarse sandpaper
Those explosions come with a loud BANG!
That gunfire comes with a deep PEW-PEW!
Your friend moans like the half-demolished building
ready to fall down & be done
So it hits the ground, totally crumbling
The rocks and metal scrape together
like two cats' screech & hiss
Your friend along with it
You become faint
The screams and yells are muffled
It's like the band is playing in the distance
Their instruments clash together with such cacophonous sounds
There's no difference between that
and two metal machines fighting to the death
You're out like a light, you almost hear the switch's click-click
And while this fight is so dissonant--BANG BANG CRASH CRASH
Stay young, Oh Warmen
